For the fourth test piece of the series, I picked a piece of hand dyed fabric that wasn't solid and had some variation in color in it. As usual, I appliquéd the shapes and did free motion stitching. Then I added the paint on top, leaving an area around the shapes for the "halo" effect.
This is what I wanted! I was ready to move on to a larger piece.
