Fabric Blocks on Paper

Here I tried the fabric blocks on paper. I just fused them directly to the paper. I thought it was fine the way it was, but then I decided to add some hand stitches. Below is what is looks like now.

Do you think the stitches help? I think it changes the focal points some. Does it need more stitching? I used just one variegated thread for all the stitches.

My initial reaction is that I like the stitching. For me, it seems to draw my eye to the turquoise rectangle in the center, whereas without the stitching my eye went immediately to the larger dark blue area. I think it is just the right amount of stitching. Nice work! Jo (from QuiltArt)

Lisa,
Fabric blocks on paper:
I really liked the the look with out the stitches when i first opened your blog, and I still do actually. Then I saw the piece with the hand stitches and it added depth.

And there's always one with a different idea. I like the simple graphic quality of the one without stitches best. For me, the stitches detract from the overall design impact.

I like the one with stitches. I agree it adds depth but I think it also adds interest. Makes me look longer, which is what I try to achieve in my own work. I don't think it changes the focal point but rather provides some balance with the foacal point.

Nice work.

I like your stitches! I think your initial instinct has served you well. There is depth added through the placement and color of your stitches. It is simple and lovely.

If this posts a zillion times, forgive me! I couldn't remember my new ID :/

I'd like to see something bright in that small dark blue square and use the same color in the lavender square. This is where adding an element in photoshop first really cmoes in handy, if you don't like it you can always erase it.

Also on the larger lavender square you need another navy stripe as counter balance, again try it in photoshop first.

Lovely piece, I prefer the stitched sample and think it has just the right amount of stitching.

I like the stitches. They add music to the dance of the fabrics.
