Going down your photos... you have one variety of beautiful lantana, we love it because the deer don't. A welk shell, common on Edisto many folks mistake it for a conch, its not. Inside it is a hermit crab and I hope you put it back in water, he'll appreciate it. This is a fairly large one, they start out in smaller shells and as they grow look for bigger ones. The rock is non native, an attempt by man to hold sand that Mother Nature claims as her own. Generally speaking Mother Nature wins. And the egg sack you ask about I think is from a horseshoe crab but don't hold me to it. That's just what I've been told.

how about the spinal column of an eel? Imaginative at least if not so :-)
The last photo is of whelk egg casings. There are actually tiny whelks in them.
