Another Finishing
This is a piece I just finished. It is called Tree Tenants #2. I'm not sure if I like it. Maybe it needs something else.

Blackbird
Here is a bird I made yesterday for a coworker who likes blackbirds. It is made from pieces of wool sweaters and a blazer. I used this pattern. It is the first 3D bird I have made and I didn't really intend for it to be a funny bird, but that is how it turned out. Now Anna wants me to make one for her (probably so all her stuffed cats can eat it!).

Spring Break
This week is Anna's spring break. Unfortunately, Anna has been sick since Monday. She wonders why she couldn't have been sick while school was in session. Fortunately, we didn't have any big plans. My mother-in-law is still visiting so it hasn't been much fun for her as we haven't had much chance to go out and do things.
I have gotten some hand stitching done on some of my artwork and hope I have something to show you soon.

Spring
We welcomed the first day of spring with a gorgeous day. The temperature was near 70 degrees. The sun was shining. Anna had an early release from school for spring break. Frank took the day off from work and his mom and uncle are visiting.
We all enjoyed sitting out in the sun and getting our first pinkness of skin. It was good we enjoyed it while we could, because now we are back to cloudy, cooler, rainy weather.
Last night we went to Anna's third cousin's wedding that was here in Boise. We don't have many occasions to get dressed up. Frank came out of the bedroom in his jacket and tie to ask Anna if she was ready yet. She said, "Whoa!" She has never seen her dad so spiffy.
When I was all ready to go, Anna said I looked like a lawyer. Definitely something she's never seen before and not a look I am comfortable with.
The lighting at the reception was not very good for taking pictures, so I don't have a very good photo of Peggy looking equally as nice as the rest of us.
Today it is back to looking like a bum for me.
The sidewalk chalk and hula hoops came out to play.

The Finish of Something #5
I don't seem to be going in numerical order with my finishing of pieces, but at least they are being completed.
This was a piece that I did with no pre-conceived idea. I thought I would use some of the fabric that was lying around on the table from other works. Below is what I put together. In the dark square I kept seeing mountains in a storm and that is what directed the quilting.
On the back side, I used a piece of fabric I found at a garage sale (it might have been a sheet?). It certainly gives it a different feel on the back. Maybe some would like the back better?
I always find it interesting when doing the stitching, what it ends up looking like on the back. Someday I think I will try creating a piece from the front, but with the intention of the back being the side showing. Could be interesting.

The Finish of Something #4

The Start of Something #5
I'm sorry there hasn't been much news or art here lately. The last couple of weeks have been about as crazy as the March weather has been (one day in the 60's, one day of massive hail, rain, snow, thunder, lightening and a bit of sun in a couple of hours, and now back to colder weather and snow).
I have been working at the museum, teaching art and trying to work with tech support on the yearbook program (which they have now finally found a solution to the problem I was having with the program). I have also been trying to work on my art. Mostly I've been trying to do some of the hand stitching, but also some machine stitching. Here is another piece I have put together that is waiting for some of that stitching.
